Dermatological surgery and reconstructive plastic surgery in Munich
1. Dermatological surgery:
Skin tumors on the face, for example, are increasing significantly due to increased exposure to the sun, but also due to the rising average age of the population. Even small benign skin changes or moles can develop into malignant skin tumors under certain circumstances.
What are the diagnostic and investigative options?
If you notice any suspicious skin changes, you should consult a dermatologist as soon as possible for a diagnosis and to determine whether the skin tumor is benign or malignant. The only way to be sure is to have a tissue sample taken or the tumor surgically removed and then examined histologically in an experienced pathology laboratory. We work closely with experienced dermatologists and histopathologists to make a diagnosis.
What treatment options are available?
During a personal consultation, we will discuss whether there could be medical reasons for the skin change. We often recommend first having the tissue sample examined and checked by a specialist dermatologist and/or histopathologist.
Once a diagnosis has been made, we can then perform the surgical treatment. This often involves the removal of benign or malignant skin conditions—particularly in the facial area (e.g., eyelids, nose, ears, mouth, etc.)—and the subsequent restoration of the patient's appearance.
Our treatment focus in the field of dermatological surgery:
- Removal of benign or malignant skin diseases (e.g., basal cell carcinoma and melanoma) and subsequent restoration of the external appearance
- Removal of soft tissue tumors, e.g., lipomas (fatty tissue tumors) or sarcomas
- etc.
2. Reconstructive plastic surgery:
Restoring appearance and physical functions requires the highest level of experience and expertise—for skin changes, but especially for the consequences of accidents, scars, or congenital malformations.
What treatment options are available?
Extensive skin changes caused by burns, accidents, tumors, or tattoo removal leave deep wounds that cannot be closed with a simple suture. In these cases, flap plasty or skin grafts are used.
In reconstructive plastic surgery, the wound is first temporarily covered with artificial skin until the examination results are available. Once the tumor has been completely removed, the defect is closed using skin grafting or flap plasty.
Our treatment focus in the field of reconstructive plastic surgery:
- Scar-free correction of injuries (e.g., after an accident), especially in the facial area
- Recovery after burns
- Reconstruction of soft tissue injuries
- etc.
How and where is the surgical procedure performed?
We perform minor procedures on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia in our outpatient operating room. You can go home afterwards.
Larger operations are performed under general anesthesia on an inpatient basis if necessary.
Why should you choose to be treated by a specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery?
Restoring appearance and physical functions requires the highest level of experience and expertise. We are specialists in plastic and aesthetic surgery. Our goal is always to achieve corrections with as little scarring as possible, while optimally restoring aesthetics and function.
What should be considered after dermatological surgery?
After the procedure, close follow-up care for the patient during our consultation hours is a matter of course. Based on our experience, we recommend taking at least one week off work to recover from the operation. Depending on your occupation, more time may be needed for recovery. Of course, the post-operative phase varies for each procedure and each patient, which we will take into account during follow-up appointments.
