In addition to the preceding 4 steps of the Fotona 4D laser facelift, only 2 further treatment steps are necessary if you want to optimize severely sun-damaged skin, deeper wrinkles or coarser skin pores.
Procedure for fractional skin rejuvenation Fotona TwinLight®
After the deep layers of the skin have been pre-treated with the Nd:YAG laser to stimulate collagen production (see 4D® Laser Facelift, steps 1 to 3), a fractional laser treatment is performed.
The Er:YAG laser beam shoots small microchannels into the skin. Old, damaged skin is removed and new, healthy, firm tissue is created around the microchannels. This has the effect of smoothing out wrinkles, making the skin firmer and improving the overall skin structure sustainably and naturally.

At the end of the treatment, a holistic facial laser peel is performed using an Er:YAG laser (full beam). The superficial skin imperfections are removed and the complexion regains its natural radiance.
When will the first results of Fotona TwinLight® fractional skin rejuvenation be visible?
The first visible results of skin rejuvenation are visible immediately after peeling off the top layer of skin. The full skin tightening effect is completed after approx. 6 months.
Who is the Fotona TwinLight® fractional skin rejuvenation treatment suitable for?
The treatment is suitable for all skin types and ages.
What should I look out for before and after the treatment?
The skin should not be too tanned before treatment. The skin should not be exposed to prolonged direct UV radiation for 2-3 weeks before and after each treatment.
How many treatments are necessary?
A clear result is already visible after the first treatment. To achieve the desired result, two treatments are recommended in most cases and in rare cases three treatments at intervals of 2-3 months - depending on the individual starting situation. Once the treatment has been completed, the desired result is achieved and usually lasts for several years. Refresher treatments are possible at any time thereafter as required.
How long does a treatment last and where does it take place?
Depending on the region treated and the indication, a Fotona 4D™ laser facelift plus Fotona TwinLight® fractional skin rejuvenation/renewal usually takes around 60 - 120 minutes. The treatment takes place on an outpatient basis in our practice.
Is there any downtime? When will I be socially acceptable again?
Compared to a conventional skin resurfacing treatment method, the downtime is short. The downtime is approx. 5-7 days. On the day of treatment, swelling and reddening of the skin is visible. After a few days, a slight crust forms and then the skin flakes off (approx. 5-7 days). After this, slight redness is still visible and there is increased sensitivity to light, which quickly diminishes. After the treatment, you can go about your daily activities again.
Do I need anesthesia for skin rejuvenation?
No, a Fotona 4D™ laser facelift plus Fotona TwinLight® fractional skin rejuvenation/renewal is minimally invasive, painless and takes place without anesthesia. However, if necessary, an anesthetic cream can be applied 40 minutes before the treatment.
Is special aftercare required?
Yes, no special long-term aftercare is required after a Fotona 4D™ laser facelift. A water vapor-permeable cream should be used for the first three to four days. Cooling with thermal water, for example, is also recommended immediately after the treatment. You should avoid sunbathing or going to the solarium for approx. 4 weeks and use sun protection with SPF 50+.
