The female breast is an important physical feature for many women. Breast augmentation with implants is no longer a rarity these days. The high-quality, modern implants that we use in our PANTEA® private practice in Munich are filled with a cohesive gel that feels like natural breast tissue. The implants most frequently chosen by our patients are so-called "form-stable breast implants". These implants reduce the risk of capsular fibrosis and are considered to be particularly dense. The rough surfaces of the implants ensure that the breasts can move naturally even after breast augmentation and still do not slip. Preventive examinations such as ultrasound or MRI can still be carried out without restriction with our modern implants.
Procedure for breast augmentation with implants at PANTEA® in Munich
Medical treatment comprises several steps: from diagnosis through to completion of treatment.

The first step is a joint consultation. The doctors at PANTEA® take enough time for you and clarify all your questions. Photo documentation and a physical examination are also carried out.

Depending on the findings, we will work with you to determine an individual treatment plan and discuss all the options for optimally implementing your desired treatment.

Together with our patients, we decide on the most suitable surgical method for breast augmentation with implants during the consultation.

The day before the operation you should drink enough fluids and get enough sleep so that you can have the operation in a healthy and rested state.

On the day of the breast augmentation operation, you should arrive at the clinic on an empty stomach, i.e. you should not eat anything for at least 6 hours before the operation and not drink anything for at least 2 hours before the operation.

After the operation, our patients receive a "post-op kit". This contains useful aids, as well as hints and tips for optimal behavior during the healing phase and afterwards, as well as high-quality nutritional supplements and nutriceuticals to support the healing phase and the sustainable transition to a healthy and balanced diet.

We recommend that you take approx. 1 to 2 weeks off after the operation. Aftercare includes wearing compression garments or the abdominal belt day and night for approx. 6 weeks. After 6 to 8 weeks, you may resume light sports activities.

Before breast augmentation with implants
Blood-thinning medication (e.g. aspirin or similar) should no longer be taken one week before the operation.
If you are a smoker, please stop smoking three weeks before the operation.
Please avoid drinking alcohol for approx. 1 week before the operation.
Make sure you drink enough fluids in the days before the procedure.
Please organize a transfer home for the day of discharge. An accompanying person is absolutely necessary for this.

A compression bra must be worn day and night for 6 weeks.

Questions about breast augmentation with implants
In principle, breast augmentation can be performed on any adult woman. However, as with all other plastic and aesthetic procedures, the patient should be at least 18 years old. We therefore follow the recommendation of the German Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (DGÄPC).
Overall, you should be in good physical condition and, in the case of young women, breast and body growth should be complete. We focus on your personal motivation. We want to understand exactly what you find disturbing about your breasts and what expectations you have of breast augmentation. This is the only way we can give you detailed, honest and comprehensive advice. The satisfaction of our patients is our top priority. Breast augmentation with autologous fat is generally suitable for women of all ages.
In breast augmentation with implants, the implant can be inserted either over the pectoral muscle or under the pectoral muscle. How the implant should be positioned depends heavily on the individual circumstances, such as skin cover, breast shape, glandular content, musculature and body fullness.

You should have your breasts checked regularly after the procedure as part of your annual gynecological examination using an imaging procedure (such as ultrasound).
The risks of breast augmentation with implants depend on the type of procedure and the approach. Irrespective of this, temporary harmless tissue changes such as swelling or blue discoloration of the skin may occur in the surgical area. However, these quickly subside on their own.
Very rarely, infections and wound healing disorders can occur. These are easy to control with an antibiotic.
Breast augmentation with breast implants can involve special risks such as capsular fibrosis, rupture of the shell (a so-called "implant rupture" is extremely rare) and displacement or twisting of the implant (implant dislocation).
The causes of capsular fibrosis are still not clearly understood. It is suspected that it can be triggered by a chronic infection. Depending on the severity of the capsular fibrosis, pain may occur and a follow-up operation to remove the scarred capsule or even a change of implant may be necessary.
Yes, because the ability to breastfeed is generally not impaired after breast augmentation with implants.
