Fotona SMOOTH® mode for tightening the area around the eye: Fotona's "Er:YAG" laser is designed to reduce wrinkles around the eyes in a non-invasive, non-ablative way. Eyelid tightening procedure with Fotona SmoothEye®
The entire periocular area is covered first, including the areas above, below and next to the eye. The non-invasive and non-ablative "Er:YAG SMOOTH® mode" stimulates both collagen remodeling and collagen contraction. The Er:YAG laser beam shoots small microchannels into the skin. Old, damaged skin is removed and new, healthy, firm tissue is created around the microchannels. Who should have eyelid correction?
Eyelid correction - whether surgical or laser - involves little effort, but can have a strong positive effect on your positive appearance. The ageing process in the face is particularly visible early on in the skin around the eyes, as this skin is very thin and sensitive. However, drooping eyelids can also be genetic and not age-related. The full skin tightening effect is completed after approx. 3-6 months.

What should I look out for before and after an eyelid lift?
The skin should not be too tanned before treatment. The skin should not be exposed to prolonged direct UV radiation for 2-3 weeks before and after each treatment.
How many treatments are necessary?
A clear result is already visible after the first treatment. To achieve the desired result, two to three treatments at intervals of at least 6 weeks are recommended in most cases - depending on the individual starting situation. The desired result is achieved at the end of the treatment. Thereafter, refresher treatments are possible at any time as required at intervals of approx. 4-6 months.
How long does an eyelid lift take and where does the treatment take place?
Depending on the region treated and the indication, a Fotona SmoothEye® eyelid lift without surgery usually takes around 30-60 minutes. The treatment takes place on an outpatient basis in our practice.
Is there any downtime? When will I be socially acceptable again?
Compared to a surgical eyelid lift, the downtime is very short. The downtime is approx. 1 day. On the day of treatment, swelling and reddening of the skin is visible. After the treatment, you can resume your daily activities. Due to the minimal exposure to heat (= cold ablation), healing is faster than with other ablative lasers, resulting in only a short downtime. The procedure is well tolerated by patients and there is usually no discomfort.
Do I need anesthesia for eyelid correction?
No, a Fotona SmoothEye® eyelid lift without surgery is minimally invasive, painless and takes place without anesthesia. If necessary, an anesthetic cream can be applied before the treatment.
Is special aftercare required?
Yes, no special long-term aftercare is required after SmoothEye®. However, a water vapor-permeable cream should be used for the first three to four days. Cooling with thermal water, for example, is also recommended immediately after the treatment. You should avoid sunbathing or going to the solarium for approx. 2-3 weeks and use sun protection with SPF 50+.
